Tetras are one of the most beloved fish in the aquarium hobby and make a great addition to any aquarium.  Tetras come in many different colors and varieties.  The only thing to be careful about with tetras is that no long-finned fish are in the same tank because they will nip at timesif not in schools.  Some popular tetras are listed below.

1. Neon  Tetras

Neon Tetras are one of the most popular fish in the fishkeeping hobby and make a fantastic fish for any aquarium.  Neon tetras are schooling fish, so it's best to get 6 or more.  NEVER put neon tetras with any big fish, for they can easily turn a school of neon tetras into a midnight snack.

 6. Black skirt tetra.

These tetras have a dimond shaped body, and a distinctive lower back section of dark black, with large black anal fins near the back or the fish.  These are good begginer community fish, and are very active.  DON'T BE FOOLED AT THE PET STORE!!!  When stressed, these fish will lose most of or all of their black coloration.  They may seem plain, but will regain their color once put in your aquarium.  They are also found in a golden form.  Another common name for these fish is the Black Widow Tetra.  You may see the golden form of this fish dyed with bright colors, like purple, or green.  Most of the time, the coloring is bad for the fish, and they will not live long.  These fissh can become nippy if only kept in groups of 2 or lower, so get at least 3, also because they are schooling fish.
